Michigan Republican Party deploys Obama Tactics / Supports TSA & NDAA

"CITIZENSHIP IS a revocable license. Admission TO US SOIL may be refused or A CITIZENSHIP HOLDER ejected at the sole discretion of THE NSA/EXECUTIVE BRANCH. THE NSA may refuse admission to, or eject, any CITIZENSHIP holder without consideration who is deemed to be disorderly [OR IS AN "ASSOCIATED FORCE" OF DISORDER], or who fails to comply with these terms or any and all security measures [PAT DOWNS]. You and your belongings may be searched upon entry into the AIRPORT. If you consent to such searches, you waive any related claims that you might have against NSA [SO NO RIGHT TO ATTORNEY!]. If you elect not to consent to the searches, you will be denied TRAVEL RIGHTS. CITIZENSHIP holder assumes all risks incident to the convention or related events, including the risk of lost, stolen, or damaged property or personal injury [WE MIGHT USE ENHANCED INTERROGATION TECHNIQUES!]."
CAPITAL LETTERS = My ONLY replacements / additions (in brackets) of ORIGINAL text released by the Michigan Republican Party in an e-mail:
  • MRP (Michigan Republican Party) = NSA
  • Credentials = Citizenship
  • Venue = Airport or American Soil
  • Entry into the venue = Travel Rights
  • Additions in parenthesis or brackets.
See how that lines up so nice. So nice of the Michigan Republican Party to save us all time and endorse Obama!
Now, as someone who has attended local-level conventions multiple times, I agree that no group of delegates should disrupt the convention process; however, credentials are not at the sole prerogative of party leadership, a "license" granted at their whim. At least in Texas, credentials to sit on the convention floor and take part in its business are a right if the following criteria are met:
  • You participated in your party's primary or otherwise indicated your party preference, forsaking the right to participate in any competing party's conventions or primaries.
  • You were duly elected as a delegate by the preceding level!
These people are chosen to represent lower-levels of partisans.  It is not for the "MRP" to interrogate, search, and intimidate delegates with whom they might disagree.
Should they assure order? Absolutely!  Notice that the MRP is following the trend, though, of thinking security is justification to trample liberty, and no reasonable justification for their actions is warranted before they search.  Notice, if they are not only wrong but screw up, they want you to waive them of any liability.
Pathetic.
